Jeffrey Shulkin MD

Dr. Shulkin has been in practice in Folsom, California since 1995.   After receiving his undergraduate bachelor degree in biology at University California, San Diego, he went on to earn his medical degree from Loyola University, Chicago.  He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University California, Davis. Dr. Shulkin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Because community service is important to Dr. Shulkin, he has been an active participant in the leadership of Mercy Hospital of Folsom.  He was Chair of the Department of Medicine from 2010-2015.  Beginning 2016, he is serving his second two year term as Vice-Chief of Staff, which will transition him into his second two year term as Chief of Staff, beginning 2018.

Although there is a growing trend to let hospitalists care for patients that need to be  admitted, Dr. Shulkin is one of a three remaining doctors in the Folsom area who continue to care for his own patients throughout their hospitalization.  This allows for true continuity of care which is crucial for best medical practice and patient satisfaction.

Dr. Shulkin’s  philosophy of healthcare centers around his belief that proper diet and exercise can prevent many chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, back pain, and depression.

Dr. Shulkin has been happily married since 1995 and has two amazing sons.  In his spare time, he loves to garden and watch his sons play soccer and skateboard.
